Life of people of Punjab has been ruined due to continuous rainfall in the state from last 48 hours. Due to the risk of floods in Punjab, Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh has urged people not to go out of their homes unless their is urgent work. Also he has given the instructions for all the schools to be kept closed till September 25, 2018.
Weather department has given the warning of heavy rainfall in Punjab for next two days and the army has been asked to stay alert. Every district of Punjab has been instructed to establish flood control rooms.
Due to continuous rainfall in Chandigarh from last two days, the water level of Sukhna lake has crossed the danger zone after which Chandigarh administration has opened the flood gates of Sukhna lake. The gates are opened after 12 years and were previously opened in 2006 due to heavy rainfall. At that time huge water was collected in Bapu Dhan colony in Sector 26. Weather department has asked people not to be afraid of the rain but to stay alert.
