Badal govt. mute for vote bank, Case against Sirsa dera head for hurting religious sentiments cancelled

District and session judge of Bathinda Tejwinder Singh has dropped the case against dera sirsa head, that was registered by Bathinda police on 20 may 2007 for hurting Sikh sentiments and disturbing religious harmony among sections of society under the section 295-A, 298, and 153-A. The reason for the cancellation of the case was inefficiency of Punjab police to present the chalaan of case within three years of filing the case. Along this, court has accepted the report of Bathinda police to cancel the case. The police report submitted to court on 27 January 2012 emphasize that during investigation police had not got any evidence which proves the crime. So police requested the court to end this case.

Many Sikh organizations are critising Badal govt. for being so lenient to dera head for sake of vote bank. Knowingly, dera head is accused of  mimicking Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji's historic act of baptism at his salabatpura dera, by dressing like Guru ji and made his devotees drink jaam-e-insaa. This act of dera head had led to violence in many parts of malwa region. Consequently, some people died and many were injured.
